Steelix 150/132 – Illustration Rare Mega Evolution Pokémon

Steelix has never exactly been known for subtlety, and this Illustration Rare from Mega Evolution makes sure you know it.

The artwork puts Steelix right at the centre of the action, bursting forward through a dark, rocky environment with its enormous metallic head dominating the card. The low perspective makes it feel absolutely massive — exactly how a Pokémon made from hardened steel and measuring over nine metres long should look.

What really makes the artwork pop is the contrast. Steelix's almost monochrome metallic body sits against a deep black background, while streaks of blue, purple, red and orange light cut across the scene. Add those glowing red eyes and that unmistakable grin and you've got a card with a genuinely intimidating presence.
