The artwork has a much darker feel than many modern Illustration Rares. Houndoom dominates the scene, towering over Archer with flames pouring from its mouth while deep reds, blacks and fiery oranges fill the background. Archer's calm pose underneath Houndoom makes the pairing feel particularly menacing and perfectly captures the atmosphere associated with Team Rocket.

Houndoom has always been one of the more intimidating Pokémon designs, combining its black canine appearance with horns, bone-like bands and a reputation for flames that are said to cause pain that never fully disappears. Pairing it with one of Team Rocket's senior figures feels incredibly fitting.
